I'm 42 and I work for a company (I definitely better not mention their name!) but it's a company that deals with sending out junk mail. Sorry! But when I got laid off from the steel plant, I took what I could get. The thing was the whole reason I ended up going back home that day was that there was a fire. We thought it was a drill, but part of the printing offices really had caught fire and because of the inks they have there (which can give off toxic fumes) we were basically not allowed in again that day. I felt like when I was at school and you get sent home early.
I ha bought a computer and was planning to see if I could get it set up. It was great - an extra holiday. But when I got home, I noticed straight away that the curtains in our bedroom were closed. I didn't remember Mary being ill that day so I couldn't work out why she'd gone back to bed. It didn't occur to me for a second she could be cheating on me. I just never thought that way. Sounds kind of stupid as I write it. And to be honest with you, in all my days working I don't remember another where I'd been sent home like this. So I guess she thought it would be pretty safe to do what she was doing. God - I was in for a shock that day. |
